Disappearing or Escaping
Many people coming to my disappear website are looking to leave the past behind and some are looking to escape; however, there is a difference between leaving the past and escaping from the past. The problem with escaping is you’re always on the run; the looking over the shoulder, the uneasiness of turning a corner and not knowing who is there when there is a knock on your door. It is an uncomfortable feeling; trust me, I know.

When I was skip tracing and doing a lot of pretext, I was invading peoples lives obtaining information, for good reason, not the absurd accusation of what society labeled a skip tracer or social engineer. I was looking to solve problems. Every day I wondered who was behind me and if they were ever going to catch up, I lived in a perpetual state of mentally being on the run. I believe my disappearing skills grew naturally from the life I was living.
It became second nature not to give my correct contact information to the bank and I dont mean identifiers, just contact information. I avoided giving a home, work or cell number to service companies that asked. All of my mail and credentials went to a PO Box that did not have my valid phone number. I grew paranoid and eventually rid myself of things in my home that had a connections to me, appliances with warrantees, I eventually rid myself of everything with a barcode. We joked that I was becoming a minimalist.

I think with the current climate of the economy many people are looking to bail and bail quick. I know I am because it is quite scary especially if you are an American and you look at who is running the show, look at governors like Spitzer, Blagojevich, McGreevey and now Richardson of New Mexico. Look at Bernard Madoff the fifty-billion dollar kid, he does not sit in jail like some street corner drug dealer but Madoff gets to wait for justice in a six-million dollar apartment in New York giving him the opportunity to try to hide his assets.
If you are in the UK the street surveillance is out of hand; does government really need a camera on every corner? The UK recently started a program enlisting covert human intelligence sources.
Children as young as eight have been recruited by councils to “snoop” on their neighbors and report petty offences such as littering, the UK Daily Telegraph disclosed.
