You are not supposed to be colorful, irreverent, and interesting if you are in politics. It’s all policy, strategy, and plotting to make life miserable for the rest of us. Rob Ford broke all the rules. He danced during council meetings, he used outrageous language, he did not “Just Say No”, and he probably offended just about everybody. But that is not really why he was so hated among the political class. I was so happy to get a call from Lew Rockwell this morning reminding me of a piece I did some two and a half years ago when everyone was talking about Rob Ford. It was called, “Why They Really Hate Toronto Mayor Rob Ford,” and Lew encouraged me to revisit the piece. I’m glad he did. Rest in peace, Mayor.
