In Murray Rothbard’s recently republished essay “Doing God’s Work,” he many times mentions Michael Maren, a former American aid worker in Somalia who exposed the corruption of the aid industry. After Rothbard’s death, Maren wrote a brutal indictment of the whole business of humanitarian intervention and the industry of aid. It is called The Road to Hell (The Free Press, 1997).
