Hagel an Establishment Stalking Horse?

Writes Peter Collins: “I saw the NYT article (I think Saturday) on Sen. Hagel, who is apparently contemplating a Presidential run on his anti-Iraq bonafides.

“Doesn’t this smack of the Republican establishment trying to divide and conquer the anti-war vote – splitting it two ways so that an approved Establishment candidate can win?

“It seems to me that the establishment is surprised at Ron Paul’s success and is now taking measures to stop him. In my opinion, this was also the meaning of the Barnett pro-war editorial in the WSJ last week.

“Clearly, this establishment activity is a vote of confidence in Ron Paul – if he weren’t threatening them, they would be ignoring him and hoping he would go away.”
