Will Paul Ryan Be the GOP Nominee?
March 31, 2016
The odds in favor of a nestablishment-run convention, with Paul ‘Crony, PC, & Open Borders’ Ryan as the choice, are way up, with the odds of a Trump nomination way down.
I hope Trump is preparing an independent run. The GOP deserves to die.
UPDATE from Johnny Kramer:
The establishment is in a real pickle at this point.
If Trump had fallen way short, and an establishment candidate was close behind — say, Trump walks into the convention with about 900 delegates, and Bush with about 800 — they could have easily gotten away with nominating Bush after the first ballot. It would be legit according to the rules of the process, unless there were evidence of significant voter fraud (and even then it would still probably look legit to the average person, who I suspect dismisses such evidence — no matter how strong it is — as sour grapes).
But the real scenario this year is if Trump falls short, it will be just barely — and with no one else even close to him; with the GOP having openly and deliberately stopped him from having the delegates to win on the first ballot; with the runner-up not only walking in with two-thirds of Trump’s delegate total if he’s lucky, but with it being Ted Cruz, who the establishment also doesn’t want (although he’s unacceptable to them to a much lesser degree than Trump); and with establishment Kasich having nowhere near even Cruz’s total.
It’s hard to see how they can seriously still think at this point they can steal it from Trump. I still think they’ll begrudgingly let him have it, then promote a “major” third-party or independent candidate (like Perot in ’92) who they think can split Trump’s support and install Hillary.
But, if they do steal it, at least the public will have the reality of “democracy” put out in front of them where they have to look at it. As Roger Stone told Alex Jones Wednesday, if Trump can’t stop the nomination from being stolen from him, he at least intends to arrange things going in so that they have to steal it as blatantly as possible so that everyone sees what happened.
And how can the establishment think that’s a long-term solution? What makes them think that Trump’s supporters won’t be back in four years, even angrier — and maybe also in even larger numbers?
If nothing else, we all owe Trump a hearty thanks for the entertainment.
