Dear Lew:
I recently received a mail solicitation from the Salvation Army requesting a Christmas gift for poor children. I marked goose eggs in the contribution amount line.
I also wrote the following on the form:
“As a white male oppressor, I am sure you would prefer not to receive any donation from me. It would be tainted by my privilege.”
Sending that message was well worth the price of a first class stamp.
