Harry Browne’s 1996 Acceptance Speech

May 31, 2016

Writes Johnny Kramer:

Lew, I was pleased to see the mentions of Harry Browne on the Political Theatre blog in the aftermath of the LP nominating Gary Johnson again (and this time with William Weld!).

I was introduced to libertarianism 20 years ago, when I was channel-surfing and stumbled onto Harry’s acceptance speech at the 1996 LP Convention for the party’s presidential nomination. It’s still the greatest political speech I’ve ever seen, and it’s quite the contrast to today’s LP.

I agree with the commenter who wrote that the LP died with Harry.
