Alex Christofouro on the Situation in Georgia

Thanks Tim McGraw.

Georgia is a small country of 3.7 million people, and 1/3 of them live in the capital of Tbilisi.

It has an interesting history: Georgia Country; Wikipedia.

Poor Georgia, like Poland and Sicily, is a victim of its geography. Georgia has been invaded by Persians, Ottomans, Mongols, Arabs, and the Soviet Union. Hitler invaded Georgia as well. Iran invaded in 1795 and sacked Tbilisi, massacring the residents. Samar, a woman, was the most successful King; she was called the King of Georgia. That was back in Medieval times.

Georgians were down to less than a million people at one time due to invasions and deportations by conquering powers. It’s amazing that Georgians have survived IMO.
