Veterans Say What Needs to Be Said
March 9, 2017
I am not alone. I received a huge response to my recent article “Saying What Needs to Be Said about the Military.” Many indicated that they were veterans. I want to quote one line from a veteran (G.O.) because I have received basically the same statement from 50 others over the years who share his opinion: “I am a Vietnam veteran and to this day feel ashamed and embarrassed for what we did to those people who did no harm to us.” Veterans who think like this are the real heroes.
Laurence M. Vance [send him mail] writes from central Florida. He is the author of The Free Society; War, Christianity, and the State: Essays on the Follies of Christian Militarism; War, Empire, and the Military: Essays on the Follies of War and U.S. Foreign Policy; King James, His Bible, and Its Translators, and many other books. His newest book is The U.S. Proxy War in Ukraine.
