The Maryland National Anthem

Nice to hear “Maryland, My Maryland” (1861) sung before the Preakness, though the federal choir was careful to sing the most PC verse. We did not hear such lines as “The despot’s heel is on thy shore” (that’s Lincoln jackboot, of course), let alone “Huzza! she spurns the Northern scum!”
