The Fed Owns the Economics Profession?

Dr. Larry Parks has long held, and I’ve long agreed, that mainstream monetary economists are all on the payroll of the Fed: fellowships, grants, well-paid speeches, publications, not to speak of the prospect of vast power and fame. Murray Rothbard said, in analyzing another matter, that the typical academic “would run over his grandmother for a conference invitation.” But for a glance of approval from Ben Bernanke? Good for Ryan Grim for his HuffPo article today in this tradition. But shame on him for not even mentioning Ron Paul, the great anti-Fed voice in American history. End the Fed! (Thanks to Jesse Benton)
