That “Sham” FDA “Study” of Hydroxychloroquine

April 28, 2020

You may recall that last week all the LMS (Lying Media Scum) were doing on-air superbowl winning-touchdown victory dances over a “study” of VA hospital patients that argued that hydroxychloroquine was essentially useless as a therapeutic for the COVID-19 cold virus.  My initial thoughts were: How bizarre (and sick) that they would treat what appeared to be BAD NEWS for patients who lay dying in hospitals with such glee; How does this square with testimonials from doctors in NY and Los Los Angeles, among other places, that hundreds of their patients have been helped and their lives saved by the drug?; and, like most “public health studies,” this one probably has a very high probability of being bogus.  I was right about that last point.

Infectious disease researcher Dr. Stephen Smith looked into it in more detail than anyone in the media did and found that:

  • Although the “study,” published in a non-peer-reviewed Web site, listed numerous University of Virginia authors, only three were MDs, and all of them were ophthamologists!
  • No dosages of hydroxychloroquine were mentioned in the “study.”
  • None of the authors saw even a single patient.
  • There were no controls for other possible causes of death; all were assumed to be caused by COVID-19.
