Take Back Armistice Day!
November 2, 2015
I am old enough to remember when November 11th was recognized as “Armistice Day,” to celebrate the end of World War I. Those who just can’t get enough of whooping it up over the massive slaughter of innocents – including children who are too young to fire a bazooka or drive a tank – now insist on using that day to honor those who kill on behalf of the state and its corporate-state interests. What’s next: will Valentine’s Day become a day of celebration for gangland killings?
Those old-timers who still think that celebrating the ending of war is a worthwhile purpose, might think about putting on an anti-war film festival. I have done this, in my home, on prior Memorial Days, but it could also be done on Armistice Day.
