re: Granddaddy Bush the Grave Robber

Regarding the news story that Prescott Bush and his fellow spoiled little rich kids from Connecticut robbed the grave of Geronimo in 1918 and put the Indian’s skull on dislplay at Yale’s Skull and Bones
Society, consider this: What if some good ole boy pranksters from the University of Mississippi broke into Grant’s tomb, chopped the head off of the corpse of Ulysses S. Grant, poured carbolic acid on it to remove the remaining hair and skin (as news reports say Prescott Bush did), and then put it on display in Oxford, Mississippi? Indians have been dehumanized for so long that everyone seems to have the attitude of “so what, boys will be boys.” They wouldn’t have that attitude if the shoe were on another foot.

Speaking of Yankee grave robbing, in my forthcoming book, Lincoln Unmasked, I briefly write about how New Englanders in the early and mid 19th century were such violent racists that they dug up the graves of black people in cemeteries so that they wouldn’t “taint” white graves.
