“Observe, Assess, [and] Report”

Thanks to the TSA, I am intimately familiar with road trips. And I’ve concluded that driving is essentially boring. How school-bus drivers spend hours behind the wheel with other people’s screaming brats, I’ll never know. But I can easily understand why these folks are prime prey for “First Observer,” the paranoid program from TSA that attempts to recruit them as snitches against us.

FO presents three videos, each about ten or twelve minutes in length, that purport to turn “600,000 US school transportation professionals” into Lt. Columbo. Talk about enlivening an exceptionally dull routine! You’re no longer Betty Bus Driver picking up snot-nosed kids while stewing over your recent divorce or the unpaid bills piling up; now you’re a First Observer, saving the Homeland while policing your fellow citizens! Betty can even receive a shiny new “certificate” for viewing all three films (good luck with that: the first was as boring as driving is, so I only made it about halfway through).

According to the TSA, the most innocuous behavior can signal “terrorist” intentions. For example, a “vehicle” “shadowing” a school bus on its route, despite the latter’s stops and turns, is “suspicious.” Attention, you tax-gobbling nincompoops at the TSA: laws force “vehicles” to follow school busses, despite their stops and turns. Every time the bus stops, a red and ridiculous stop-sign swings out from it, as if all of us stuck behind this inconvenience are homicidal maniacs intent on running down the disembarking passengers. And since many of these busses operate on two-lane, hilly roads with “no passing zones” that stretch for miles, fleets of “vehicles” “shadow” them. Duh.

The TSA also instructs its would-be spies in terrorists’ likely identity. Remember a few years ago when the DHS angered a great many Americans by libelling them as “domestic terrorists”? You might think the bureaucrats had learned their lesson. But no. Here we go again: after “International Extremists” and “Sympathizers” but before “Narco-Terrorists (a growing threat from the south[ern border]),” the TSA lists “Liberation Movements and Domestic Terrorists (Militia, Racial Supremacists, Religious Extremists, Political Fanatics).”

“Political Fanatics”? Hmmm. I don’t know anyone so fanatical about politics that he must gain public office, except Our Rulers; do you? But I fear all those “First Observers” out there won’t “Observe, Assess, [and] Report” their congresscriminal or governor, as TSA urges them to do to us. Rather, the agency implies that Constitutionalists, anti-fascists, anti-New World Order and assorted other individualists are the “fanatics.”
