No Poker, No Peace

Last night I spoke before the Manhattan Libertarian Party, a great bunch of folks. The Party’s Jim Lesczynski, an avid LRC reader, has come up with the idea for a “No Poker, No Peace” protest — consisting of a lot of poker playing — in front of One Police Plaza tonight, to show opposition to NYPD raids of poker clubs in recent weeks. The poker clubs appear to violate no New York law, yet the police department confiscated $100,000 in players’ money (which they have no intention of returning). Jim made the subversive suggestion that the police should investigate robberies rather than commit them.
