Letter to Beltram

Tom DiLorenzo writes to Rick Beltram of the Spartanburg Republican Party:

“Mr. Beltram:

“Your personal smear of Congressman Ron Paul is the kind of thing that makes Northerners think Southerners are a bunch of yahoos and rednecks. ‘Lunatic?’ Really? For quoting the 9/11 Commission Report ACCURATELY, something that Rudy Giuliani has obviously not even read?

Don’t tell me you believe Karl Rove’s idiotic line that the terrorists ‘hate our freedom.’ If so, what took them so long? We’ve been ‘free’ for many generations. Why did they wait until 2001? The obvious answer is that they’re outraged over our government’s constant meddling in Middle East affairs, especially in the years after the first Gulf War, which are none of our business. This is not to defend these murderers, but to confront reality, something that Republicans like yourself seem incapable of doing, as blinded as you are by phony ‘patriotism’ (i.e., blind faith in the GOP establishment).

“Congressman Paul did not blame ‘us’ for 9/11. He accurately cited what even the CIA calls ‘blowback,’ or retaliation for our aggressive actions against them, in their own countries. How long do you suppose we can send our military all around the world bullying everyone, even our allies, for reasons that have nothing to do with defending America?

“The only way America will ever become a free country again is if the Republican Party disappears (along with the Democrats).”
