Irish Coffee Prevents Brain Damage

November 17, 2009

Writes Mike Moskos:

Your article today reminded me of a piece in a health newsletter by Dr. David Williams.  If ever you suspect someone is having a stroke, immediately get them to drink the equivalent of Irish Coffee–a shot of any kind of liquor with a cup of coffee.  The alcohol and caffeine together prevent a substantial amount of brain damage.  Scientists are not sure why it works, only that it does. An enlightened hospital may administer a similarly acting compound to do the same thing. Of course, the hospital’s “drug” will be FDA approved and MUCH more costly.
