I mentioned in a recent article that Democratic lawmakers who supported gun-control legislation were facing recall elections because of it. Well, the election took place yesterday and two Democrats who were targeted because they voted for more gun legislation were removed from office. This is good for Colorado, since the last thing any state needs is more gun-control legislation. Does this mean that I hope Republicans take the two open seats in a special election? Certainly not. The best thing that could happen is that the seats remain vacant as long as possible. Mark Twain must have recognized this many years ago since he said: “No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.”

Update: It turns out that the seats are already filled.
