Every Home Should Be a Safe Place

To use drugs. The mayor of Ithaca, New York, wants the city to be the first to offer “a supervised space where addicts could inject heroin.” “The sites would be staffed by trained medical professionals who could respond to overdoses.”

I have a better idea: There should be no war on drugs. Every home should be a safe place to use or abuse drugs just like every home is now a safe place to use or abuse alcohol. This doesn’t mean that using or abusing alcohol or drugs is a good thing. I neither use nor abuse either, but in a free society what you do in your own home is your business. Truly, the war on drugs is a war on freedom.
