AP: Half of U.S. A Society of Morons

From today’s Associated Press wire:

“[A] Harris Poll released July 21 found that a full 50 percent of U.S. respondents — up from 36 percent last year — said they believe Iraq did have the forbidden arms [weapons of mass destruction] when U.S. troops invaded in March 2003, an attack whose stated purpose was elimination of supposed WMD.”

“The reality in this case is that after a 16-month, $900 million-plus investigation, the U.S. weapons hunters known as the Iraq Survey Group declared that Iraq had dismantled its chemical, biological and nuclear arms programs in 1991 . . .”

So after an official U.S. government report stating there were never any WMDs is published, the percentage of Americans believing the opposite increased by 14 percentage points. Make that a society of delusional morons.

Good work Rush, Sean, G. Gordon, Neil, etc. etc. Under the banner of “patriotism” you have encouraged American parents to send thousands of their children to die in Iraq under completely false pretenses. Special “thanks” also to Toby Keith and all the other warmongering country music pretty boys in tight britches who provide the background music for this war of lies. (The Dixie Chicks, by contrast, are the real patriots).
