Why the Elites Love Democracy and You Shouldn't

There are three types of organization that we normally call “democracy:”

VOLUNTARY DEMOCRACY

Some folks get together and some of them decide they want to accomplish something and they voluntarily organize and some of them get it done.

We usually mistake all three democracies as voluntary.

INVOLUNTARY OR COERCIVE DEMOCRACY

A bunch of folks get together and a few decide what they want to accomplish. It’s understood that all those in the group must help accomplish what has been decided upon, whether they like it or not. This includes use of their time, money, resources, etc. The level of corecion can be mild or severe.

The third type is easily confused as one of the above – – –

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY is nearly always or nearly always becomes and/or morphs into a form of COERCIVE DEMOCRACY: Once you sign-on to REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY, deeply embedded in the tradition is that you must go along with whatever the representative(s) decide, like it or not — which makes it coercive.

Now might be a good time to mention Benjamin Franklin’s incredibly important quip,

“We gave you a Republic if you can keep it.”

You might also be surprised to discover that the word “democracy” isn’t mentioned even once in the United States founding documents. Check it for yourself, they’re a pretty short read.

Why then, are we constantly bombarded with the notion that we are a democracy?

And here’s the beginning of why that’s the case – – –

…the model has discovered a fundamental flaw in democratic society. It shows that in any society of even moderate complexity, making decisions by majority rule gives power not to the people, but to professionals who know how to manipulate political procedures to their advantage. –P.D. Straffin, “Handbook of Game Theory with Economic Implications” (1994)

So it’s not the voters in a democratic society who control things. Instead, it’s the “professionals who know how to manipulate political procedures to their advantage, or as we call them “politicians.”

The venerable Iron law of oligarchy https://www.britannica.com/topic/iron-law-of-oligarchy | Power Dynamics & Social Hierarchy | Britannica is more blunt.

You may or may not be surprised to discover that “politicians” have a marked tendency to be psychopathic – – –

The Startling Accuracy of Referring to Politicians as ‘Psychopaths’ –The Atlantic

And in addition to the psychopaths who are attracked to government power, you probably won’t be surprised to discover that those professional manipulators also include especially those economic interests that want to use government for their own fun and profit.

Our early American ancestors understood the dangers of democracy — and of majority rule in general — and weren’t shy in warning us about them – – –

“Mankind will in time discover that unbridled majorities are as tyrannical and cruel as unlimited despots.” –U.S. “Founding Father” John Adams

“An elective despotism was not the government we fought for” –Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIII, 1782. ME 2:163

U.S. “founding father” James Madison was more specific – – –

“Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” –James Madison, Federalist Paper 10:

In fact, the problems with democracy — I even had a watered-down Problems Of Democracy (P.O.D.) class in high school before they cancelled it — were well understood at least through the first third of the 20th Century as demonstrated by War Department Training Manual TM_2000-25 – – –

Democracy, n. “A government of the masses. …Results in mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic – negating property rights. …Results in demagogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.” –issued November 30, 1928, withdrawn and destroyed Spring 1933

And a few 21st Century folks have been trying to warn us as well – – –

“All democracies turn into dictatorships — but not by coup. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it’s Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler. Ultimately, the general population goes along with the idea … ” –filmmaker George Lucas, Dark Victory from time.com

“Most police states, surprisingly, come about through the democratic process with majority support. During a crisis, the rights of individuals and the minority are more easily trampled, which is more likely to condition a nation to become a police state than [is] a military coup. “–Is America a Police State?, Congressman Ron Paul, U.S. House of Representatives, June 27, 2002 {

The movie [“Fahrenheit 11/9“] is more comparing us [Americans] to the Germans, the “good Germans,” one of the most civilized, cultured, educated, liberal democracies on the planet Earth. And they went along. …Hitler’s party won 32 percent of the parliament in 1932, …He holds a plebiscite and asks the people, “Yes or no? Are you OK with us, the Nazis, taking over here?” …and the majority of Germans voted “yes.” –Iconic leftist Michael Moore: Are We Going to Be Like the “Good Germans”

Anti-Nazi Lutheran Minister Dietrich Bonhoeffer explained how masses of cultured, educated Germans gave in to the predominant NAZI narrative. With much thought and observation he concluded they stopped thinking for themselves in favor of going along with the easier popular NAZI group-think.

“Auschwitz didn’t fall suddenly from the sky, Auschwitz crept and tiptoed, taking small steps, it came closer, until this happened here,” warned Marian Turski, 93, a Polish-Jewish survivor who called for vigilance against the abuse of minorities’ rights …. –Auschwitz survivors sound alarm 75 years after liberation | AFP.com

And this knowledge is a lot older than that – – –

In the Gospel of Thomas, (that the Catholic Church decided to exclude from the Bible), I read that Jesus had recommended that when a large group collected itself together to form a Church in His name, to leave it. Any large group eventually becomes corrupted by those who are self-serving and want to control others in order to benefit themselves, and to take the praise and glory intended for God, to themselves……just as Lucifer had done. –Barbara Whetstine, Mass murder: Monkey see monkey do? Antiwar.com

So you may not be too surprised to discover that more than half — 58% — of four million folks around the world surveyed in a Cambridge University study are dissatisfied with democracy. That’s the highest level of discontent ever recorded in the survey’s 25 year history. Further, the level of dissatisfaction is particularly high in the U.S.A. and U.K.

It’s gotten even worse here in the U.S. since that survey. For example, an October 8-12, 2020 AP-NORC poll shows only 15% of registered voters say that democracy in the United States is working extremely or very well.

The New Yorker calls the unprecedented number of worldwide upheavals, most in democracies, “The Story of 2019.” Things are pretty clearly even worse today.

Our small-group ancestors had a built-in solution of sorts — they only accepted centralized control in certain very limited situations and only temporarily.

Here’s my very extreme but favorite example:

“Briggs (1970:55-58) tells us in detail how religious services were conducted in iglus [igloos] and how Inuttiag (in the role of religious coordinator) tried at certain points to get his tiny congregation to stand. The community initially conformed, but then more and more people began to disregard his orders until the majority were ignoring him. At that point, he simply stopped trying to command them. (Christopher Boehm, Hierarchy in the Forest, 1999:54)

And there’s lots more to it than that HERE. And for good reasons. Ignoring this genetic aversion is asking for trouble.

To the extent that you fall for the democracy scam, you are giving away control of your life and resources, usually non-consciously, and usually, though not only, to a government.

That’s called giving away your agency or sovereignty and is especially sneaky because that always happens when you vote. And the result is you “give away your agency, life, and belongings mostly to governments.”

By voting you may feel you have retained your agency and autonomy but for the most obvious spoiler, suppose the vote goes against you?

And remember it always goes against those who also voted with you

As a result, those professionals who know how to manipulate political procedures to their advantage get away with taxing you and get to do whatever they want with your tax money and your life. They can draft you into their murder machines and cause you to kill innocent men, women and children in foreign lands.

An object lesson: One member of a anti-Zionist Jewish sect, Neturei Karta pointed out to counter the 1917 Balfour Declaration: “While we are a people without a country, Palestine is not a country without people.” He warned “We Jews, Christians, Moslems, Mohamadins have lived together peacefully for generations. You want to make us all live by your Zionist rules and if you do, we will be at each other’s throats.” They con you into thinking they do this altruistically for your own good.

And of course, they have to give you — or at least promise to give you — SOMETHING in return to keep you docile.

Once groups get larger than the biological control limit — Dunbar’s Number is a good marker — things gradually (or suddenly) get more and more out of your control.

You become a cipher for the democratic machine and your agency is stolen from you.

In fact, the notion that governments automatically and completely own and control your agency has become so deeply implanted and buried in modern cultures that it’s almost never even mentioned let alone challenged. Governments and “society” now automatically assume that they own you and you completely support whatever they do.

Do you?

But since the founders gave us a Republic and warned us against democracy — and a majority doesn’t like the results of their democracy — why do we put up with the elites constantly barraging us with it — and how much longer are we going to put up with it?
