Rand Paul Isn’t the Only One Proposing a VAT

Like Rand Paul, Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) is proposing a federal Value Added Tax (VAT). He wants to lower personal and corporate income taxes and add a VAT because “the federal government needs at least as much revenue as it now collects.” In both cases, better to starve the federal leviathan by lowering income taxes and not adding a VAT.
