“It’s like mowin’ the lawn…”

So observed the late, great rhetorician Mel Bradford, regarding dealing with liberals. Lacking common sense – or, rather, having amputated it voluntarily in their flight from reality – they just keep coming back with the same old sentimental self-indulgent narcissism, masquerading as superior argument.

But truth must be defended – and yes, it is like “mowin’ the lawn.”

So too with the neocons.

Like the trash trucks on Capitol Hill, they come back again and again and again, spilling the same old fatuous garbage about how bright they were, and how it was never their fault, and how we should all ignore reality and help them blame somebody else.

And they never, ever apologize. A snarling Dick Cheney will rally the Foxhounds with a stirring defense of torture, and  the glitterati smile, shrug, and break for a commercial.

Our age suffers from misrule by a bipartisan, bloviating brood of overgrown high-school sophomores. They lied and got away with it when they were kids, so why not now?

Unfortunately, one must often go beyond our shores to find honest reportage regarding the bipartisan neocon establishment. Try that at home and “you’ll never eat lunch in this town again,” et cetera.

But from down under, an honest man exposes once more the delusions of the neocons’ “Never-Ending Fairy Tale.”

And good for him. As long as they lie, we have to suit up and mow the lawn. As a public service, in charity and, of course, in truth.
