Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas John Paprocki, writing in CatholicTimes, “the official newspaper of the diocese of Springfield in Illinois,” points out the “intrinsic evils” in the Democratic Party Platform and says: “I am saying that you need to think and pray very carefully about your vote, because a vote for a candidate who promotes actions or behaviors that are intrinsically evil and gravely sinful makes you morally complicit and places the eternal salvation of your own soul in serious jeopardy.” Wow, this is more radical than anything I have heard evangelical warvangelicals say.
Although the good bishop doesn’t come out and tell Catholics to “Vote Republican,” he does say: “I have read the Republican Party Platform and there is nothing in it that supports or promotes an intrinsic evil or a serious sin.” My view of the Republican Party platform is not so favorable.
