Video Game Subversives

Imagine, there are some game designers that do not adhere to the two key laws of the universe: that the US is always the ruling military and economic power on earth, forever and ever, amen, and anyone it targets is a bad guy. The US is always in the right.

UPDATE from Brian Hearn:

I played through the new game from Rockstar, L.A. Noire (which is fantastic, by the way). *NOT a spoiler* During one of the cut scenes it shows your character, Phelps, during the Pacific theater in World War II fighting the Japanese. One of the privates makes several slurs about Japanese soldiers and parroting the official reason for fighting the Japanese. Phelps corrects the soldier by saying the reason we are fighting the Japanese is because we cut off their petroleum supplies.

I won’t give away the ending, but the whole game is based on politicians in bed with wealthy developers in L.A. There are also revelations about the character Phelps that show that he is not exactly a shining hero, even though he won the Silver Star in World War II. In fact, none of the police officers were of any use at all, and usually on the take. There are a lot of libertarian messages in L.A. Noire, if not perfect. And you can see a beautifully well done recreation of 1947 Los Angeles.
