You know: Thou Shalt Kill, Blessed Are the Warmakers, and all the rest of it. But this story also reminds me what an outrage it is to have tax-funded, uniform-wearing chaplains in the military at all. The function of such figures is to quiet the conscience of soldiers ordered to do evil, and to single out the “troublemakers” for the MPs. Eric Burdon and The Animals had it right in their 1968 classic, Sky Pilots.
