The Messiah-King Is Expensive

English noblemen, at least below the level of the great magnates, were reportedly terrified of the honor of a visit from Henry VIII, king, killer, and self-proclaimed head of the English church. The expense required to redecorate appropriately, and then entertain the king and his vast entourage, could bring bankruptcy.
