The Iran War Solidifies the Destruction of Our Freedom

March 19, 2026

As right-wingers, statists, and interventionists celebrate the deadly, destructive, illegal, and unconstitutional Israeli-U.S. intervention against Iran, it’s important to recognize what else they are celebrating, even if unwittingly: the solidification of the destruction of our own liberty as Americans at the hands of our own government. That’s because their intervention against Iran produces the renewed threat of terrorist retaliation, both here at home and abroad. That threat, U.S. officials say, requires a fortification of the entire war-on-terrorism apparatus that accelerated the destruction of our freedom after the 9/11 attacks.

In other words, they have to continue keeping us “safe” from the very dangers that their interventionism produces. And that, of course, means more tyranny here at home for the indefinite future.

This is how foreign interventionism works hand in hand with the U.S. national-security state apparatus to solidify federal control over the American citizenry. By producing the threat of terrorist retaliation with foreign interventionism, they can justify the continuation and expansion of these two evil and malignant tumors on the American body politic — i.e., the national-security state and foreign interventionism — by telling us that they are just keeping us “safe”— safe from the dangers that these two malignant tumors continue to produce.

We libertarians must never let them use their foreign wars to distract away from the real problem we face — the U.S. government and, specifically, its liberty-destroying apparatuses, programs, and policies, especially the national-security-state apparatus and the policy of foreign interventionism.

As I have stated in the past, Iran is not our enemy, notwithstanding the fact that the U.S. regime has made Iran its enemy. Iran has never destroyed our freedom. It is the U.S. government that has destroyed our freedom with its national-security state, foreign policy of interventionism, drug war, immigration police state, welfare state, income tax and IRS, tariffs, sanctions, embargoes, Federal Reserve and paper-money system, economic regulations, and much, much more.

Already, we are seeing terrorist retaliation on American soil for what the Israeli and American regimes are doing to the people of Iran. That necessarily means that the Department of Homeland Security (a name that conjures up the fascistic military society in the movie Starship Troopers) will have to be fortified. More vigilance. More surveillance. More control. More pat-downs at the airports. In a word, more tyranny for Americans.

At the risk of belaboring the obvious, the move toward more tyranny is a move away from freedom. To more in the direction of freedom — genuine freedom — requires an abolition of the Department of Homeland Security and an end to the liberty-destroying “war on terrorism.”

The war on Iran demonstrates perfectly why we can never rely on conservatives when it comes to restoring our freedom here in America. They fall for this foreign-war racket every single time, even when it is obvious that it is intended to distract people’s attention away from uncomfortable truths, such as the very real possibility of Jeffrey Epstein’s connections to the Israeli Mossad and the CIA. In the process, right-wingers fall for every fake and false justification for a new foreign war that U.S. officials always trot out, including the notion that the targeted foreign regime is about to unleash WMDs on American cities.

Of course, we saw the same phenomenon in the run up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Saddam Hussein, we were told, was about to unleash “mushroom clouds” over American cities. U.S. Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell even had the charts to prove it.

It was all a lie, no different from other lies these people tell to justify their incessant liberty-destroying interventions. (The Gulf of Tonkin lie comes to mind, which led to 58,000 men of my generation being sacrificed for nothing.)

And it’s a lie today that Iran was coming to get us with (non-existent) WMDs. It’s just the standard fear-mongering strategy designed to scare Americans into supporting the latest freedom-destroying measure and silencing anyone who dares to question the official fake and false narratives.

If there are more acts of retaliatory terrorism, we should all be prepared for the standard response as U.S. officials gear up for more tyrannical destruction of our liberty here at home. They’re going to be saying that it’s all because of “radical Islamists” who hate us for our “freedom and values,” not because people are deeply angry over the needless killing of their parents, children, siblings, friends, or countrymen in Iran.

To restore our freedom here at home requires the American people to engage in some serious soul-searching that brings about a shift toward our founding principles of a limited-government republic and no foreign wars. Hopefully, the deadly, destructive, illegal, and unconstitutional Israeli-U.S. joint intervention against the people of Iran will induce such soul-searching.
