July 27, 2018
It’s no secret that what, how much and when you eat your dinner has an effect on how well you sleep.
But did you know that there is one simple food that can help you in your quest for eight hours unrivalled shut-eye?
Speaking to FEMAIL, dietitian, Sharon Natoli, explained why eggs at dinnertime are one of the best natural sedatives.
‘Something as simple as eating eggs at dinnertime can be a natural sedative as egg whites help the body prepare for bedtime by producing melatonin – which brings on that sleepy feeling,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.
‘They are also a rich source of the amino acid typtophan, which means that they help you to sleep better for longer by telling your brain to shut down for the night.'

Sharon explained that a healthy diet is one of the ‘key contributors to a good night’s sleep’.
She said that not only will eggs help to boost the quality and quantity of your slumber, but they will also help to prevent weight gain, ageing and even reduce your stress levels.
When it comes to how many eggs is the right amount, Australian Eggs say that the cholesterol in eggs is ‘not bad for you’ and two a day is absolutely fine.
Studies show that a protein-rich breakfast can help improve feelings of satisfaction, reduce feelings of hunger and lead to a lower intake of kilojoules over the course of the day, particularly from high fat, high sugar evening snacks.
According to one study, including eggs as part of a low-calorie diet can help speed up the rate at which people lose weight.
