Drinking eight glasses of water per day is a common piece of advice for those who want to stay hydrated and healthy, but sometimes it's easier said than done. 

What with our fast-paced lives and busy schedules, it's easy to neglect some aspects of our health, especially something as simple as drinking the right amount of water every day.

The good news is that there is a quick and easy way to tell if you're dehydrated, and there's no need for any apps or gadgets to do so.

All you have to do is pinch your skin.

According to My Domaine, by pinching the skin on the arm or on the lower abdomen, you are quickly able to easily tell the skin's elasticity. 

Medline Plus defines skin elasticity, or skin turgor, as the ability of the skin to change shape and return to normal.

When you pinch your skin, notice if its shape quickly turns back to normal. This means that you are adequately hydrated. 

However, if it takes longer for your skin to go back to normal after a quick pinch, that could mean you should probably be drinking more water.  

Aside from this skin test, there are also other telltale signs of dehydration. 

According to Cosmopolitan, some of the main indicators include a small appetite, intense thirst, exhaustion, headaches, and poor memory, among others.

You could also experience a bad case of diarrhea and other irregular bowel movements, as well as a darker shade of yellow pee. 

That being said, it's important to to stay hydrated at all times, given that drinking water greatly affects your body's metabolism and digestive system. 

It also keeps your skin radiant, leaving you looking and feeling good.
