Hormones – More than just a reproductive issue!

H is for hormones. Hormones are secreted by various endocrine glands at various locations in the body. They run our bodies – this includes sleep, stress, blood sugar, metabolic rate, reproduction, growth, and more.Hormones are produced by endocrine glands – pineal, pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, pancreas, ovaries or testes.

Hormones are interrelated – they depend on feedback loops to inform the different glands what levels are needed.

Hormones become imbalanced due to poor nutrition, too much stress, nutritional deficiencies, toxicity, etc.

Signs of hormone imbalances are varied and include the following:

– Low blood pressure

– High blood pressure-Headaches[amazon asin=B0088FLLK2&template=*lrc ad (right)]

– (not just in women)

– Salt craving

– Fast or irregular pulse

– Inability to work under pressure

– Inability to relax

By now, I should have listed one or more symptoms that describes almost everybody. I find it almost impossible to pass 30 without some kind of imbalance. I like to recommend tonic formulas that are full of nutrients that are typically missing from our diets to help balance out endocrine function and general hormone production. When all of the hormone producing glands are being “fed”, it is amazing how well we think, feel, and sleep.
