There Has Never Been a Libertarian President

Has there ever been a president whose actions were by and large libertarian? Never. There will always be found in their records some serious deviations from what a libertarian president would have done. And this comes about by the nature of the man who seeks the office, by the nature of the powers that go with that office, and by the nature of the government itself with its competing power centers.

Has there ever been a president who even seriously diminished the powers of his office during his tenure? I doubt it. Even if any such effort has been made or has been successful, it at best has been temporary and limited, judging from the huge presidential powers now in place.
