Religious Antipathies Aroused

One of the direct consequences of the U.S. government’s involvement in the Middle East and other nations is that it has sparked and ignited religious-based retaliation, fused with political-based retaliation. This is playing out in America as a marked increase in hatred and blanket condemnation of Islam (easily found on the internet), with accompanying actions. Such religious division goes back a very long time; it’s now aroused again. The latest is a video:

“The trailer was uploaded to YouTube by Sam Bacile, whom The Wall Street Journal Web site identified as a 52-year old Israeli-American real estate developer in California. He told the Web site he had raised $5 million from 100 Jewish donors to make the film. ‘Islam is a cancer,’ Mr. Bacile was quoted as saying.

“The video gained international attention when a Florida pastor began promoting it along with his own proclamation of Sept. 11 as ‘International Judge Muhammad Day.'”

In Libya, some group, aroused by the video, has retaliated by attacking the U.S. embassy and killing the ambassador and three of his staff.
