Re: Peter Schiff

Lew:  For Peter Schiff to lose to a pro-wrestling entrepreneur reflects the “bread-and-circuses” atmosphere of current electoral politics: Arnold Schwarzenegger in California, Al Franken in Minnesota, immediately come to mind.  It is so reminiscent of the time when Roman emperor Caligula appointed his horse to the Senate!  Peter might have fared better had he run in many other states.  But Connecticut?  The state that has sent Sen. Joe Lieberman to Washington?  How does one get an intelligent message across to people from that state?  I am reminded of the 2004 remake of the movie The Stepford Wives, involving a Connecticut town in which all the wives have been transformed into mindless humanoids.  The woman responsible for having created such a setting was asked why she selected the location that she had.  She responded: “where would people never notice a town full of robots? Connecticut!”
