Our Politicized Weather

Karen’s post has made me think about how the political classes and their adoring, joined-at-the-hip media have managed to politicize even the weather. Yes, like Michigan, Finzel has had a relatively mild summer, with highs rarely going above 80. (We live on the Allegheny Plateau at 2,620 feet, which is high-altitude for Marylanders, for all you westerners who think high elevations don’t start until 10,000 feet.)

Yet, every time we hear of a hurricane, a heat wave, a cold wave, a drought, fires, or heavy rains, the focus always seems to turn toward Global Warming and the “political solutions” that are demanded in order to fight it. No doubt, the GW mafia will have a Global Warming explanation as to why we regularly have had lows in the 50s all summer, and why I had to keep my windows shut today so we would not freeze. And, I have no doubt that they will recommend a political “solution” to my problems.
