Liberty and Bock

In the May 2005 Liberty, Alan Bock posts a reflection entitled “The Felon Vote,” discussing how several states “permantently disenfranchise anybody conviced of a felony. Others make it so difficult to regain voting privileges that it almost amoutns to permantent disenfranchisement.”

To which, the proper libertarian response is the sarcastic, “well boo hoo”. Bock’s conclusion? The Rah-Rah comment that “depriving people of the privilege [of voting] doesn’t do much to give them a sense of having a stake in the system.” Oh, for God’s sake, give me a break. Does this even need a comment?
