Halloween and Election Day

On her new album Norah Jones perceptively connects these two events that are only three days apart (at least in 2004):

‘Twas Halloween and the ghosts were out
And everywhere they’d go they shout
And though I covered my eyes I knew
They’d go away

But fear’s the only thing I saw
And three days later was clear to all
That nothing is as scary as election day

But the day after is darker
And darker and darker it goes
Who knows maybe the plans will change
Who knows maybe he’s not deranged

(Trivia: Norah Jones is the biological daughter of Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar though she grew up in the US with her American mother.)

[UPDATE: BK Marcus directs me to a great comic that also makes a Halloween/election connection.]
