The final blow to US agression against Vietnam (which killed 2.5-3 million) was internal military resistance. There were mutinies (employees wanting to change jobs) among the troops in Vietnam and on Navy ships, and that was it. That’s why the military resistance to Bush’s aggressive wars, and planned aggressive wars, is so interesting. There is also troop opposition on the ground in Iraq, especially among reserve and national guard units.
Now Ken Silverstein reports that there is CIA resistance was well. One doesn’t have to agree with Mark Lane to think that dissing the spying-lying-killing agency is not a smart move for even an imperial president. The same may be true for the FBI. Could the Bush-neocon attacks on both bureaucracies have facilitated administration troubles, including the legal moves against Irving ‘Scooter’ Libby and Karl ‘Trike’ Rove, etc.?
