According to the New York Times, Milton Friedman is responsible for our economic woes. Not because of his advocacy of fiat money, but because he inspired the dismantling of the welfare-regulatory state.

So, in the world of the Times, the Fed, Fannie, Freddie, and every other government policy devoted to diverting resources into housing is a product of Milton Friedman-style capitalism.
