Clean Hands?

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell had a news interview this morning concerning both the problems surrounding the governor of Illinois, and the efforts to secure a multi-billion dollar congressional bailout for the auto industry. Ms. Mitchell queried as to whether anyone in Illinois politics, who is involved in resolving the governorship issues, can be said to “have clean hands” in the matter. As Ms. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan – whose policies were a major contributor to the financial difficulties extant in America – one can only wonder whether her “clean hands” question might be more applicable to her reporting on the causes and solutions to such problems!

People often ask me how I come up with material for my articles and blogs. I tell them that I just turn on the cable news channels and let the talking heads provide me with all that I require. Indeed, it is often a matter of choosing from among competing sources. I am not clever enough to make up this stuff!
