Clarence Carson’s History Books: An Insightful Treasure

This past week, I have been reading one of Clarence Carson’s books on American History, this one being called The Growth of America, 1878-1928. Never have I read a more insightful piece of basic history, and his comments on the intellectual trends at the turn of the 20th Century are excellent.

Here is someone who understood Progressivism and the other “isms” as well as any historian who has lived, as far as I am concerned. Compare his insightful work to the typical U.S. “distorian,” and you will see what I mean. He wrote a set of histories from the Colonial era to 1985, and they are well-worth reading — if you can find them!
