Says former GOP senator Bill Frist: “President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have failed at health care reform. They have failed because they fundamentally don’t believe in markets, incentives and the power of hundreds of millions of people to make smart choices about their health. It’s just not in the Democratic leaders’ DNA.”
Is that so? Does Bill Frist believe in markets, incentives, and the power of hundreds of millions of people to make smart choices about their health? Of course not. Just two paragraphs later, Frist says he favors “the elimination of pre-existing conditions as exclusionary criteria for health insurance.” What happened to the market, Bill?
And yes, this is the same Bill Frist who supported the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (the Republican version of healthcare reform) when he was in the Senate.
