A couple of DC’s wonks who “were deeply involved in writing the legislation that made independent the Central Intelligence Agency’s inspector general” in 1989 prescribe the same thing for the NSA. Yes, indeedy! That should placate us serfs. After all, the “independent” IG at the CIA prevented atrocities like torture of POW’s at Abu Ghraib, rendition of suspects to black sites, fomenting riots and uprisings in sovereign nations, and false-flag events. Just think what an independent IG at the NSA could do!
