As the tragedy continues in Paris, Andrew Ray writes that he disagrees with my blog of yesterday, specifically my blaming the French government for disarming its serfs. My source for that statement was the corporate media, which is seldom right and always suspect, so mea culpa. Mr. Ray says au contraire, the French can keep and bear arms of certain kinds – roughly the same story as in the USSA. They may have a few more hoops to jump through than Americans, but on the whole, my correspondent blames Europeans’ anti-gun, anti-self-defense mindset more than he does laws. Those who wish to compare foreign chains with their own can peruse this link Mr. Ray supplied from the American Library of Congress, “Firearms-Control Legislation and Policy: European Union.”
And Graham Dugas offers an intriguing analysis of the double standards in this controversy: “Free speech in ‘the press’ is celebrated except if you are Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Luke Rudkowski, Sibel Edmonds, Michael Hastings or other truth tellers. The state is above Jesus, Allah, Mohammed, Buddha etc. You can blaspheme these all you want but if you dare to speak against the almighty state you will be financially ruined, tortured, caged, killed and/or defamed. Hmmm…”
