Another GOP Scam
July 31, 2014
The GOP website wants its readers to sign a petition to abolish the IRS. Why? Is it because taxation is theft? Of course not. It is because:
The IRS abused its power, attempted to silence conservative groups and potentially spent years lying about it. As Congressman Paul Ryan said, the IRS can turn our lives “upside down.” But Americans have almost no recourse when the IRS abuses its power. Tax collection should be simple, not scandalous. Sign the petition to abolish the IRS.
The GOP needs the IRS to collect taxes to fund its version of the welfare state.
I note also that House Republicans have passed a bill to slash the IRS enforcement budget by almost 25 percent.
