Why Am I Not Surprised?

Jon Stewart told Roger Ailes of FOX News that he is “an atheist and a socialist” who “would have voted for Norman Thomas.” As a self-described godless communist, Jon Stewart is a prototype of your typical member of the “mainstream” media. Had he worked for the New York Times in the 1920s, he undoubtedly would have been an apologist for Stalin as well, as that newspaper was.
(Lew writes to say that Stewart probably would NOT have voted for Norman Thomas, despite his proclamation to Roger Ailes, since Thomas was board member of the America First Committee and an opponent of the war in particular and of foreign policy interventionism in general).
Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo [send him mail] is a former professor of economics at Loyola University Maryland and a longtime member of the senior faculty of the Mises Institute. He is the author or co-author of eighteen books including The Real Lincoln; How Capitalism Saved America; Lincoln Unmasked; Hamilton's Curse; Organized Crime: The Unvarnished Truth About Government; The Problem with Socialism; and The Politically-Incorrect Guide to Economics.
