The Democratic Diner

Shawn Gregory has released an animated video in which a fan of democracy treats his friend to a meal at a restaurant whose customers vote on what’s for dinner — and no, the patrons aren’t wolves, nor is the entree lamb. The cartoon entertainingly but tellingly illustrates the absurdities, inconvenience, and downright horrors of democracy. I especially enjoyed its deft handling of the “social justice” argument, i.e., isn’t freedom unfair when poorer people can’t afford all the options offered.
Becky Akers [send her mail] has published two novels of the American Revolution, Halestorm and Abducting Arnold. They celebrate liberty and sedition, among other joys, so buy them now, before they’re banned.
