As the government at all levels continues to demonstrate its inefficiency, ordinary people put their talents to use without the permits and red tape. In this example posted via DrudgeReport New York City’s DOT is shamed by a graphic designer, and a group advocating lower speeds through neighborhoods. The interesting aspect of especially the second group’s efforts is that they are voluntary. No mention of eggs thrown at speeding cars or informing on license plates – these people are using reason to peacefully convince others to slow down and save lives in pedestrian heavy areas. Similar to the urban homesteading happening in Detroit, society self-organizes around peaceful, mutually beneficial ideas.
