Regarding the poor state of the U.S. nuclear weapons infrastructure, the “crews that maintain the nation’s 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles had only a single wrench that could attach the nuclear warheads.” The tool was sent from one base to another via Fed Ex. “No one had checked in years ‘to see if new tools were being made.'” The government didn’t even trust its own postal system to send the tool.
